Ever dreamt of becoming a company president when you were young? Well, like the bunch of us, I did. I remember when I was eight, I used to raid my mom’s closet and get her satchel and stilettos. I did play-pretend to be a grownup lady boss. That was my solo staple game as an unica hija. However, a dream like this is no longer a dream for Sreelakshmi Suresh. It is her reality.

Sreelakshmi Suresh is a multi-awarded web designer from Kerala, India. Suresh is known for her exceptional knowledge in web designing and web development. Back in 2006, at the age of eight, she was named as the World’s Youngest Web Designer and Youngest CEO in the entire history of world business. Yes, you read it right, eight and a CEO already. Her company, eDesign Technologies, is one of the top web development companies in India.

But it does not stop there. As mentioned above, she is a multi-awarded web genius. Suresh received numerous national and international distinctive awards because of her remarkable knowledge and skills in her craft. One explicit example is the honoring of The Association of American Webmasters to Suresh. TAAW awarded her the Gold Web Award, the highest award the organization could ever give. FYI, she is the only member of the organization whose age is under 18. But, not just that. She also received the National Child Award for Exceptional Achievement in India back in 2008 given by the Government of India.

News and reports say that the story behind Suresh’s fascination in web design started in her early childhood. As young as 3 years old, she already managed to know the basics of a personal computer. Her parents did not foresee that the beguilement of Sreelakshmi to MS Paint will be her drive for a much bigger and brighter future. And from there, the rest, as they say, is history. Today, Sreelakshmi Suresh has already designed and developed over 100 websites from different organizations, institutions and individuals. And she continues to strive for excellence in the industry she’s in.

Young and wise. Yet, being described as such should never cease the learning. There are handful of ideas to come. There are still many discoveries to discern. And we all should live by the late Nelson Mandela’s life mantra, after climbing a great hill, one only finds that there are many more hills to climb! Because wisdom is infinite. Seize it.

Ads in Your Facebook Messenger App?

With the development of smartphones and growing availability of data plans and Wifi spots in public places, people nowadays do not simply rely on text messaging alone as a means of communication. For instance, when you find yourself low on credits to send a message, you do not fret as long as you have access to the internet. With messenger apps such as Viber and We Chat, communication still flows as smoothly as ever.

Amongst these fine messaging applications, Facebook Messenger is probably one of the most used. This reality comes as no surprise since Facebook is the leading social media platform today. Since it was launched in 2011, the application has undergone minimal visual refurbishes but has had a number of additional features. The biggest change would probably be coming its way this year in the form of paid ads.

It’s undeniable that Facebook has now expanded from being a mere social networking site to a place of business. Small start-up companies and brands alike have broken into the works of the social media platform and are utilizing it as a means of conducting smooth buy and sell transactions. And because it is undeniable that this system works so well, word has been spreading about Facebook allowing ads to penetrate the messenger application as well.

In this light, when the update is launched, businesses will now be allowed to send ads to users they have transacted with in the past. This means that its effectiveness will bank on whether or not a business has a huge follower group. In accordance with this, it is presumed that these ads may appear on your notifications pane. There’s a first for everything, right? With regard to how the ads may appear, it may still be in the form of conversation with regard to the launch of a new product or service. In other instances, users could also expect a video or GIF in order to captivate more attention.

There are still a lot of mixed reactions with regard to this news. Regardless of how users take it though, there is no denying that Facebook is a social media platform that is here to stay.

News Flash: Yay or Nay to the New Instagram Coming Your Way?

The internet has been abuzz lately about the latest news that social media giant, Instagram, is planning on reconstructing the design scheme of their feed.

The supposed revamp is said to be inspired by Facebook’s current algorithm when it comes to their news feed. Instead of seeing posts of those you follow in a chronological order, Instagram will be showing you posts based on what it can detect as your interests, relationships, and timeliness. This means the social media platform will be calling the shots as to what will initially be visible to you on your feed.


This extreme change is brought about with the intent that they want to highlight, “the moments we believe you care about most.” And although their intention is all in good graces, there is a clamor from users for them to not head in that direction. This comes as no surprise considering how the masses today are very particular with their celebrity fandoms. Social media has made it easier for us to connect with celebrities and public figures through their personal accounts, that we probably spend the majority of our time on the internet stalking them.

The change has also prompted users to start the trend “#turnmeon” as a means of convincing their followers to turn them on in their notifications feature so that they will receive alerts whenever he/she posts a photo. A threat is also foreseen for small business that will easily be outshined by more acclaimed and established brands.

Facebook has consistently proven to be one of the leading social media platforms on the web today. Providing its users with the convenience of being able to share not only personal photos and statuses, but also file transfers and mass marketing of digital products and services. However, Facebook is not the only leading network in the social media industry today. Twitter has also proven to be a top contender in the social media industry, catering to its users’ desires of being able to share their personal opinions and experience through text, images and videos. It is still somewhat notable that they have key differences which could lead them in the direction of actually supporting each other. The link feature from Twitter to Facebook and vice versa can attest to this.

And although it’s safe to say Facebook is in the clear for now, Twitter does not seem to have the same fate sealed. There is another form of social media that is making raves in today’s generation in the form of a smart phone application. Snapchat is another form of social sharing between peers but more centered on the use of images and videos. It may sound like a mere Instagram wannabe, but there is more to it than that.

Snapchat allows you to post live stories of your everyday activities in the form of images and videos called “snaps.” These posts are then threaded together into a single reel that is referred as your “story.” Your story can be viewed by your friends in the sequence you posted it, and you are provided the feature of being able to keep track of who is viewing, replaying and saving your snaps. Now if you’re thinking that doesn’t provide much personal interaction between you and your friends, you are again mistaken. You can also create snaps which you can send personally to your contact of choice, and there is even a chat feature that goes along with it. The social app also provides a number of creative filters to choose from as part of their latest update. There are also a number of editing tools that allow you to add text, insert emojis as stickers and doodle on the photos via the touch screen.

Learning to use the app at first proved to be quite complicated to its users, but over time they found themselves taking quite a liking to it. There are nearly 100 million daily Snapchat users to date, with over 700 million snaps per day. Even celebrities such as Kylie Jenner and Shay Mitchell have become smitten with the works of the application, consistently posting their daily doings in order to keep their fans posted. In this sense, it has proven to be a means of effective marketing that they are able to use to promote events, television shows or charities for a good cause. And because these are mostly in the form of video, they are able to engage at a more personal level.

With the continuing rise of Snapchat in the social media industry, is it possible that Twitter could be given the boot? And if that’s the case, should agencies and businesses start considering Snapchat as the new effective medium to market their brand? At this point it is still uncertain considering the number of daily Twitter users, but in the era of social media it is just as easy to be voted out as it is to be voted in. So keep look out everyone, there’s a new “social media climber” in town.

Google has once again revamped its logo into what has proved to be its biggest change in years. The new logo showcases a more fun and playful approach to it in a new font style. “These days, people interact with Google products across many different platforms, apps and devices—sometimes all in a single day,” the company explained in their most recent post.

Upon accessing the search engine on your PC, users are immediately greeted by an animation of the old logo being erased by a hand and rewritten with what appears to be chalk. Once it solidifies, it dissolves and is restructured into a singular G that encompasses the company’s four signature colors. But the magic doesn’t end there.

In acknowledging the reality of technology’s development through gadgets and applications, they made their logo’s interface just as interesting and altogether quite handy with their Google mic.

“Today we’re introducing a new logo and identity family that reflects this reality and shows you when the Google magic is working for you, even on the tiniest screens. As you’ll see, we’ve taken the Google logo and branding, which were originally built for a single desktop browser page, and updated them for a world of seamless computing across an endless number of devices and different kinds of inputs (such as tap, type and talk).”

More than just making Google recognizable, the company primarily aimed to showcase how it works and the services it offers to its users. They definitely hit the mark when they launched this arrow out there. Whether it’s for accessing Gmail, finding out where to go on their maps or a basic search, we are definitely googling it!
